Frequently Asked Questions
Dohar blankets are traditional Indian summer blankets, crafted from 3 layers of superior-quality "Mul-Mul" super-soft, finely woven cotton.
How is the Dohar blanket made?
Three layers of cotton voile are sewn together with an edging normally in a contrasting colour.
Traditionally, the middle layer is hand block printed, and the design is visible through the outer layer.
Our Jay Feather collection is slightly different; it has two printed layers on the outside with a natural, unprinted layer of cotton in the middle.
Our Dohar Blankets are Hand-Crafted.
Our dohars are authentically handcrafted. They may bear the marks of their artist with very slight variations in colour and finish, creating natural subtleties that leave no two pieces alike.
How to use the Dohar Blanket?
The layers of voile cotton trap cool air in the summer months. Acting as a lightweight coverlet and used in place of a traditional top sheet, it is the perfect companion for an afternoon nap. In winter, the blanket's layers trap warm air, providing warmth and comfort.
