The Story Behind Our Quilted Robes
A Thoughtful Mother’s Day Gift, Made to Last
There are some pieces in a wardrobe that are not seasonal. They are not trend led. They are the pieces you reach for on slow mornings, quiet evenings, and in between moments. Our quilted robes were created to be exactly that.
For Mother’s Day, we believe in gifting something that feels personal, comforting, and enduring. A robe is not simply clothing. It is warmth after a bath. It is the first layer on a spring morning. It is something she will wear again and again, long after the flowers have faded.
How Our Quilted Robes Are Made
Each robe begins in Jaipur, where we work closely with skilled artisans who specialise in traditional block printing and hand finishing techniques.
The fabric is one hundred per cent breathable cotton. The outer layer is block printed by hand using carved wooden blocks. Each colour is stamped individually onto the cloth, creating subtle variations that give life and character to every piece. No two robes are ever completely identical.
After printing, the cotton is carefully layered with soft cotton wadding and backed with a complementary lining. The quilting is stitched in small runs, ensuring the padding stays evenly distributed while maintaining a soft fluid drape rather than stiffness.
The robe is then cut and sewn in small batches. Seams are reinforced for durability. Pockets are designed to sit comfortably without pulling. Sleeves are cut to allow ease of movement. It is a considered process from start to finish.
This is not factory speed production. It is careful, small scale craftsmanship.

Why Cotton Matters
Cotton remains one of the most breathable and versatile natural fibres available. Unlike synthetic alternatives, it allows the skin to breathe, regulates temperature, is naturally hypoallergenic and becomes softer with each wash.
For a robe, this matters. It should feel comfortable against bare skin. It should work across seasons. It should not trap heat or feel heavy.
There is also a growing movement back towards natural fibres. Consumers are increasingly choosing cotton over polyester and blended fabrics, particularly in sleepwear and loungewear. As awareness grows around microplastics and synthetic waste, cotton has re emerged as a preferred choice for both comfort and sustainability.
Our robes are designed to last for years, not months. Cotton supports that longevity.

The Art of Block Printing
Block printing is one of India’s oldest textile traditions. Wooden blocks are hand carved with intricate motifs. Each colour requires its own block. The printer dips the block into dye and presses it firmly onto the fabric by hand, repeating the pattern across metres of cloth.
This technique results in small, beautiful irregularities. A slight shift in pattern. A variation in pressure. These are not flaws. They are the signature of something handmade.
There has been a renewed global appreciation for block printing in recent years. As fashion moves away from mass uniformity, people are drawn to textiles that tell a story. Handmade prints offer depth, texture, and individuality that digital printing cannot replicate.
In interiors and fashion alike, block print has become synonymous with thoughtful, heritage design.
Fashion Angle: From Bedroom to Brunch
The quilted robe has quietly moved beyond the bedroom.
Styled open over jeans and a simple white shirt, it becomes a lightweight statement jacket. Worn belted and barefoot at home, it feels relaxed yet beautifully effortless. Layered over nightwear, it elevates everyday routines into something considered
The quilting adds structure, allowing the robe to hold its shape beautifully. The prints offer personality without overpowering an outfit. It is loungewear that does not feel lazy.
For modern mothers balancing work, family, and everything in between, versatility matters. A robe that can move from slow morning coffee to school run to garden gathering has real value.

Gifting with Meaning
Mother’s Day can sometimes feel rushed. A last minute bouquet. A box of chocolates. While these are lovely, they are fleeting.
A quilted robe feels different. It says:
I want you to rest.
I want you to feel warm.
I want you to have something just for yourself.
Because our robes are made in small batches, they also feel considered and special. There is no sense of mass production. Each one has passed through many hands before reaching yours.
It becomes a gift with story, not just a purchase.
Durability and Longevity
True sustainability is not only about materials. It is about lifespan.
We design our robes with reinforced seams and generous cuts to ensure they remain wearable year after year. The cotton softens rather than deteriorates. The quilting retains structure. The prints mellow beautifully over time.
When a garment is loved and worn repeatedly, it reduces the need for constant replacement. That is the heart of slow fashion.

Slow Fashion and Small Batches
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries globally. Fast fashion cycles encourage overproduction and overconsumption.
Our approach is intentionally different.
We produce in small batches. We do not chase weekly trends. We refine prints and silhouettes slowly. This reduces waste, supports artisan communities, and ensures quality control.
By choosing a robe made in this way, customers are participating in a more thoughtful system. One that values craft, longevity, and people.

Sustainable Considerations
While no product is without environmental footprint, we focus on:
Natural fibres
Hand printing rather than energy intensive digital mass printing
Small scale production
Long lasting construction
We work directly with our Jaipur partners, maintaining close relationships and transparency around how pieces are made.
Sustainability, for us, is about responsibility and respect rather than marketing claims.
A Mother’s Day Gift That Endures
When choosing a Mother’s Day gift, consider what will still be used next year. What will be worn on quiet Sundays. What will feel familiar and comforting over time.
A quilted robe becomes part of daily life. It carries memory. It becomes the robe she reaches for without thinking.
In a world of quick purchases and disposable fashion, gifting something made slowly and thoughtfully feels quietly powerful.
This Mother’s Day, choose something she will live in, not just unwrap.
